By Ocruise , July 3, in Celebrity Cruises. As you know, i'm flying tomorrow. Just thinking about being so high up there frightens me. Last year when we flew home from our Paradise Miami cruise to NY, I took 1 pill called "aloprazam" my doctor prescribed it for me when I told him I need something when I fly. I know the name sounds wierd, it was the generic version on something. Well, 1 pill did nothing, I was tight as a drum with nervousness my whole flight. The directions said to take 1 to 3, but I only took one since I had never taken a tranquilizer before. This year, I got 2 different prescriptions for my flying anxiety and I was wondering if anyone takes them and how much.

I've had a fear of flying for 15 years, and yet still carried on flying for 10 years. I had a few good flights when I was surprisingly relaxed, during and before, but many when I felt terrible tensed and really scared the whole time. It got worse as time went by, and the last few flights I was on, while I was actually ok mostly during the flights, the anticipation the weeks before made things worse, I was sick with nerves stomach problems, dizzy spells, irritability and even depression. So I decided to stop 5 years ago as I felt it wasn't worth it.

My flight to Vegas leaves one week today and instead of being filled with exictment with the thought of being back in my favourite place, I am not sleeping and contantly worrying about my flight. I am terrified of flying, which only started 2 years ago, my last flight to Vegas was spent with me being a hysterical mess. So I went to the doctor yeserday and he prescribed me 2mg diazepam, he suggested a trial run, which i did last night 1 tablet left me feeling relaxed but obviously sitting in my living room, watching telly is hardly comparable to what i feel on a flight. Does anyone have any experience taking these tablets? I developed a fear of flying after 10 years of regualr flying for no reason. The next ten years was terrible and took valium and it helped but did not cure the fear. I had a two course of NLP and this made a huge difference but what really cured me was flying business class. I flew business class last year and have flown 3 trips sense then and I am fine my fear is not crashing its the lack of space and control but I am fine now i flew back from Rome on tuesday with no worries at all.
